203_Big_Topic25 September 2011: Since 1 September 2011, voter registration lists have been posted for the public to see at all Commune and Sangkat offices across Cambodia.  The voter registration process runs for 45 days until 15 October 2011. This period provides an opportunity for all 8 million eligible voters to check and ensure that their names are on the list for next year’s Commune and Sangkat Elections.

In 2012, Cambodia will prepare for two elections: the Commune Sangkat and Senate Elections. On the morning of 16 August 2011, the Chief of the National Election Committee (NEC) appealed to the international community for funds to prepare for the two elections. This will require mobilizing 23 million US Dollars to cover the total budget. Equity Weekly invetigates what political parties and civil society representatives, including NGOs working on elections think about the preparation process and this appeal for funds.
