11 December 2011: Cambodian Fashion Week, which was the first international fashion event in Cambodia, attracted many Cambodians and foreigners. In all, nine famous Cambodian and foreign design groups participated in the event. We look at what such an event can do to help Cambodian designers, and why this was the first of its kind. We also examine the benefits to the Cambodian economy and culture, including the use of local products. Some Cambodian designers have complained that although Cambodia produces the best quality silk, only a small number of Cambodians use local silk products.
