Land conflict in Siem Reap province (Feature)
Land conflicts have become an all-too common issue in our society leading to forced evictions and violence. But for one community in Siem Reap province, dialogue between the local authorities and a private company has led to a satisfactory resolution of their case. Were they simply lucky or can their case be replicated across Cambodia?
Female Dormitories (Main Story)
Access to a university education for women is being threatened by a shortage of female-only accommodations. There are around 123 universities and institutions around the country but only a few dormitories are available for female students. The lack of appropriate housing is another factor in perpetuating the inequality between the genders that leads women to skip university altogether, marry early and work in the fields or in low-paying jobs.
Politics and society
The economic empowerment of women is a key strategy to promote gender equality and reduce poverty. Our Politics and Society segment brings you highlights of a workshop aimed at helping the government and civil society identify ways of improving women’s economic development.
Commentary
